  • Natural Ways to Remove Blemishes

    02 Dicembre 2015

Blemishes are no fun. They come at the most inopportune times, can be hard to get rid of, and sometimes even lower your self-confidence. Lots of women turn towards harsh cleansers filled with chemicals or spend thousands on procedures to remove their blemishes. But there’s usually no need for all of this. Here are a few natural ways to remove blemishes.

    Lemon Juice

If you’ve ever tried to make your own at-home facemasks, you’ve likely found that many of the recipes contain lemon juice. Due to its lightening effect, juice from a fresh lemon can work to fade dark spots and blemishes. In addition, its high citric acid content exfoliates skin, which works to remove excess oil and kill acne-causing bacteria.

    Ice Cubes

For blemishes that are red, large, and newly-emerging, you can use ice cubes to compress the pimples. Simply take an ice cube and cover it with a clean, thin washcloth. Place the wrapped ice cube over each blemish for 5 to 10 minutes. This not only cools the skin, but also reduces the inflammation of the blemish. It’s best to apply the ice as soon as you start to see a blemish forming to prevent it from getting worse.

Sticking to a consistent skincare routine

Once you find natural products that work for your skin, stick with them! Consistency is key to getting the full benefits of skincare products. If you slack off and skip some days or switch the ingredients you’re putting on your skin constantly, you will never see the true benefits. As a general rule of thumb, most skin types – especially those that get occasional blemishes – is to use a mild cleanser daily (like Shinso Essence) and exfoliate a few times a week (use Shinso Glow).

So what shouldn’t you do to remove blemishes? Don’t ever prick or pick at pimples with your dirty hands or any sharp tool. People often use too much pressure and pick too forcefully, which causes scarring and infection. Don’t use products with harmful ingredients. And lastly, don’t wait until the last minute to treat the blemish. Early prevention is key!

  • Shinso Skincare on Etalk

    20 Aprile 2015

Dr. Paul Cohen was recently interviewed by Etalk, the first daily Canadian entertainment news magazine, in the short video clip here. Dr. Cohen discussed how you can use Shinso Essence and Shinso Mist for a natural instant face lift with long-term effects. He also mentioned how Hollywood A-list celebrities use these Japanese natural products to prepare for their skin for big events, like Red Carpet premieres.

To get a “glow on the go”, Dr. Cohen says to apply Shinso Glow first to gently exfoliate the skin. Then apply Shinso Essence, a gel product that helps stimulate collagen. Lastly, apply Shinso Mist to give a fresh, Red-Carpet glow. Dr. Cohen explains that the combination of the three products gives the skin a nice, radiant appearance and helps physically lift up the skin, giving the illusion of a face lift without the procedure.

A few of the celebrities highlighted as using the product include Jennifer Aniston, Madonna and Charlize Theron– all women who have aged beautifully and gracefully and always look amazing on the Red Carpet.

  • How to Prevent Chapped Skin

    18 Novembre 2014

As the seasons start to change and winter rolls in, our skin becomes drier and requires a lot more care. One of the culprits to bad skin during winter is the cool winds. Cold and strong wings cause chapped skin all over the body- including your face, lips and hands. In addition to treating already chapped skin, you can work to prevent it from happening with a few simple steps.

How to Soothe Already Chapped Skin

Moisturize. Apply a thick, unscented moisturizer all over the chapped areas, paying special attention to any area that is badly chapped or has cuts on it. Moisturizer that is applied directly to the skin will keep water from evaporating and give your skin a dewy appearance. Use a gentle moisturizer on delicate areas such as your face, and a thicker one on your hands.

Use mild soaps and products. Avoid anything with large or harsh exfoliating beads or ingredients- they will only further irritate the chapped skin. Look for natural products made for sensitive skin.

Use a humidifier. This will help keep the air in your home moist. Leave it on while you sleep- it will do wonders for chapped lips, especially.

    How to Prevent Chapped Skin

Use sunscreen daily. Many people forget to use sunscreen in the winter since it’s hard to feel the warmth of the sun that summer gives so easily. But you can still damage your skin and get burnt, chapped skin from a day spent outdoors in the winter. If you often forget to apply sunscreen, choose a daily moisturizer with SPF mixed in already and apply it all over your face each morning.

Wear protective clothing. Always shield your face from the harsh cold and winds with proper outerwear, such as hats, earmuffs and hoods on coats. To prevent chapped hands, wear thick gloves or mittens. And don’t forget about your neck! A scarf will work wonders.
